Jean gives lessons to not only the international community but also the local residents, it's a great way to meet like minded people and make social contact in a light hearted way. Her lessons begin with teaching people to draw, quickly progressing to other mediums such as pastel, water colour, acrylic, oil or pen and ink. Much attention is given to subject matter, design colour and symetry. It's Jean's theory that everyone can learn to draw and paint with the right encouragement and instruction. This course is intended for people who have had little or no contact with art before, plus the more seasoned artist. The lessons cover a wide spectrum of styles and materials. Students are encouraged to experiment in different mediums as well as enhancing preferred techniques. Lessons are given in blocks of 10. By keeping the groups small (a maximum of twelve students per session) a comfortable ambience is created ensuring individual attention. The lessons are given in a large well equipped studio. Because of the many different nationalities, lessons are given in English and in Dutch.
More experienced artists can under guidence, further develop their ideas and painting techniques.
What you can expect
The techniques of pencil sketching of still life subjects with shading and perspective. How to paint a colour determination chart and learn how colours work in practice and theory. Instructions in painting with water colours with many tricks of the trade revealed...See and feel the difference of working in charcoal and pastels... Try your hand at pen and ink, learning as you go, about light, shade and tone values... Also try out acrylics and mixed techniques or have a go at figure drawing.... Weather permitting outside sketching during the summer months.
Course times and costs
Each lesson block is made up of 10 lessons of 3 hours and costs € 320,- inlcusief BTW. (€ 32,- per lesson)

See lesson dates for current lesson block. If you are unable to attend a lesson, make sure to give at least 24 hours notice. You can make up the lesson on another day within the same lesson block.
The basic materials are inculded in the price of the lessons. Not included in the lesson price are canvases, brushes and oil paint.
